DHL to offer extended deliveries of an evening to their German customers

DHL Parcel is due to expand on their option for evening deliveries by offering customers in Germany deliveries up to as late as 10pm. The decision to offer these new delivery services will follow the successful tests carried out in Cologne, the Ruhr area, Berlin and Munich.

The new service will allow customers to choose between two delivery time slots – 6pm to 8pm, or 8pm to 10pm. This will prove particularly advantageous to those customers who are not available during the day due to work commitments, or those who simply do not wish to wait at home for their parcel to be delivered. The service will also benefit those who are working professionals, primarily using the Internet to carry out their shopping.

DHL said the service is especially beneficial for the purchase of foods and emergency goods online, when the first attempt at delivery being successful is vital. The company has also said the new evening service will enable up to 99% of shipments to prove successful in being delivered to the recipient first time.

DHL are continually making conscious efforts to develop their evening services in the bid to provide a faster and more convenient delivery to their customers. The expansion will boost their customer loyalty, alongside them being able to magnify their presence in evening deliveries across Germany later in the year.

DHL Parcel’s Chief Executive for Germany has spoken about their tailoring of the service to meet their customer’s needs: “We are firmly convinced that people are increasingly ordering their everyday necessities through the Internet – especially hygiene items, medicines and food…we can provide the appropriate services for them.”
