In partnership with fashion marketer and producer IMG Fashion, DHL has launched a new worldwide delivery service aimed especially at the fashion industry. "DHL Exported" is intended to support designers established in their local market to gain international momentum via some of the most powerful fashion week platforms: New York, London, Milan and Tokyo.
Designers are invited to submit an application to showcase their collections at one of the four major events. Regional experts will then assess all applicants and determine which designer sets to benefit most from debuting their collections at the chosen event. DHL's role involves sponsoring the chosen designer for two consecutive seasons at each of the four fashion weeks. The company will also cover all logistics costs associated with producing and delivering the collection, including international shipping of the pieces and exporting of hard goods.
Arjan Sissing, Senior Vice President of Corporate Brand Marketing at Deutsche Post DHL said that the programme "will assist in breaking down international barriers for fashion's brightest talent." and "will foster the designers' brands in new markets".
Jarrard Clark, VP and Global Creative Director AT IMG Fashion Events and Properties said that "DHL Exported stands out from other programs as it aims to help designers who are already locally notable but need that extra boost to further reach their international goals. While there are many successful programs to help emerging talent or designers succeed within one specific country, this program is truly designed with the global mindset that brands today need to adopt in order to grow their brand into international successes."
