DHL LCL sea freight Bremen

By offering more less than container load (LCL) sea freight services, DHL Global Forwarding hope to step up their multimodel transport services whilst also reducing its CO2 emission by 62 percent. The transhipment port in Bremen is going to play a vital part in the switch from road to rail and ocean shipping.

“Our offer to transport containers by barge has proven successful for our customers. By transporting significantly larger volumes of LCL containers by barge, we have been putting our GoGreen program into practice and improving the carbon footprint of the goods we ship – as well as our own”, said Volker Oesau, CEO DHL Global Forwarding Middle & Southern Europe.

Since 2012, the Bremen sea freight centre has forwarded 80 percent of all containers to rail transport. By extending its sea freight services in prime ports such as Bremen, Deutsche Post DHL endeavours to reduce its CO2 emission by 30 percent until 2020.
